This new group of pieces by Gabriel Kulka continues to explore the relationships we create with
the objects and spaces that surround us. Each piece is a microcosm examining the way we hold
our memories inside treasured objects, and the way we define and resolve our internal
environments by our surroundings. The furniture, books, clothes, objects we carry with us,
combined with the architecture and natural environments we spend our lives in are not
arbitrary things.
Instead, all of these things are part of a whole, and contribute to our determination of self.
These pieces all explore this relationship through careful composition and deceptively simple
presentations. Though the subject seems complex, the ideas are explored through purposely
simplified proportions, modeling, joinery and basic craft techniques.
